DrinkSoft - The Next Generation: PRODAC Announces Release of DNA-M based DrinkSoft 2000

Tel Aviv, May 2000 – PRODAC Systems Ltd. announced the scheduled release this year of the new version of its flagship beverage production management software DrinkSoft 2000.   DrinkSoft 2000 enhances the specialized vertical functionality of the DrinkSoft best-in-class MES system for the beverage industry with the advantages of Microsoft™ Distributed Network Architecture for Manufacturing (DNA 2000-M).  The new technologies make DrinkSoft 2000 easier to interface with, to install and to maintain, while preserving the original DrinkSoft’s comprehensive functionality, deep industry knowledge and unique graphic analysis tools.  DrinkSoft 2000’s new open architecture represents a leap in technology, reinforcing PRODAC’s core competencies and strengthening DrinkSoft’s position on the cutting edge of the manufacturing information systems market.  In DrinkSoft 2000 PRODAC fulfills the specific requirements of beverage manufacturers to optimize plant productivity while meeting today’s market demand for open, flexible architecture making possible seamless integration between shop floor and top floor.

Harnessing the experience and knowledge base PRODAC has accumulated in the beverage industry to date, DrinkSoft 2000 will maintain all the key features of the existing DrinkSoft solution used by leading soft drink bottling plants worldwide.  The system combines data entered by operators and data from controls on the machinery together with preconfigured production data in one database, generating user-friendly monitor screens, reports and graphs.  The system provides a comprehensive view of manufacturing operations, pointing out problems and opportunities in real time and identifying trends to optimize decision-making. Sophisticated graphic query tools let users scan production status information and point and click to drill down for full details whenever needed. The system tracks key production parameters on-line and historically, among them throughput, downtime stops and faults, raw material yields, product losses and rejects as well as quality control parameters.  Because the infrastructure, user applications and reports are tailored for the beverage industry, users save time and money on specification, configuration and adaptation.

Basing the new DrinkSoft 2000 on DNA 2000-M significantly enriches the system’s value proposition.  Using these technologies increases the accessibility of the DrinkSoft 2000 applications and their resident data as well as their flexibility and modularity, facilitating easy modification, customization and rapid deployment of future releases.  By using Windows DNA-M, today’s default standard for manufacturing applications, PRODAC can focus on its own application functionality and be assured of  “plug and play interchangeability” with compatible software applications throughout the enterprise.  This makes the DrinkSoft application itself more agile and responsive and allows faster time-to-benefit.  Thin client architecture reduces hardware, deployment and maintenance costs while ensuring standardization and scaleability.  According to Microsoft Industry Marketing Manager Marcus Schmidt, “…a company that utilizes DNA-M helps its customers achieve greater interoperability at lower cost of ownership, thereby increasing the value of technology to solve real world manufacturing problems.”  Particularly in the volatile beverage manufacturing industry in which enterprises merge and diversify frequently, DrinkSoft 2000’s ability to interface and share data with diverse applications across the enterprise, and indeed across the supply chain, reinforces its value and protects the enterprise’s investment.

According to Development Manager Avi Adler, “The combination of the rich functionality of DrinkSoft and the open, flexible architecture of Windows DNA-M makes DrinkSoft 2000 a very powerful solution.  Not only is the new system easier to deploy and maintain, but because DrinkSoft 2000 is based on Windows DNA 2000-M, the role that the application plays in managing the enterprise is greater.  The insight that the DrinkSoft 2000 users gain into the manufacturing processes can be shared by and benefit other applications across the enterprise."
